As you may know, DOOM has a playable Demo for anyone who want to try the game. The DOOM already has got its Vulkan update over a month ago. Now Vulkan support also added to DOOM’s playable Demo, allowing everyone to try out the new API and benefit from the performance gains that it can provide.
Now when you run DOOM on Steam, you will be given the option to start the game with Vulkan or OpenGL, this makes easy to choose the preferred API, without needing to enter into the game’s graphical options menu, switching API and then restarting the game.
But to play DOOM with Vulkan, users need to be updated GPU drivers from AMD’s 16.7.2 driver or newer and NVIDIA’s 368.69 drivers or newer.
