NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 990M Rumor

According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA making a new mobile GPU, the GeForce GTX 990M. Current the GTX 980M is already quite powerful for a mobile GPU, but it still slow then desktop GTX 980, but the new GTX 990M promises to fill the gap.

NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 990M reportedly as faster as fast as two GTX 980M SLI. The current GTX 980M is based on GM204 with 1536 CUDA cores and 96 TMUs. The GTX 980M SLI with combined total of 3072 shaders beats a desktop GTX 980 by around 10%, so that means GTX 990M will beat both them, which is huge performance for a single mobile GPU. The GTX 990M is expect to have attest 2304 or more shaders clocked about 1.1 Ghz. Only one problems that NVIDIA need to tackle is power consumption. GTX 980M SLI using around 180W TDP so this new chip could be 150-180 watts. This could be the GPU for mobile 4K 60FPS gaming.
